Welcome to Spiritual Contemplation!

My name is Doug Jarosh and I've decided to take a spiritual journey of the liquid sort. If, like me, you love liquor, beer, or wine and are looking to learn more, I hope you'll check in with us to see just how we approach this project.

Umm, what the hell is this project? There are plenty of pundits out there writing, reviewing and spewing forth information in a high brow fashion. Not me. I'll be attempting to take the approach of the layman who wants to figure out how to better navigate the sea of available spirits and find greater enjoyment in their passion for all things spiritual.

I aim to focus on the basics of wine, beer or liquor that you can afford, find consistently and enjoy without accidentally ramming your pinky up your nose as you raise a glass. I won't often focus on liquors over $100, wines over $30 or beers you can only find in obscure parts of New Guinea. I'm also not going to talk about things in abstract ways where you get descriptions that sound like things you'd find on a Christmas brunch table in New Hampton..  AHH!! I GET A NOSE OF FRESH SUMMER NOUGAT! No Sir. We're going to look at things from a "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" perspective and let you decide where you'd put a spirit on a 100 point scale and just what kind of pudding you think you can detect on the bouquet.

How the hell do you plan to go about this? I know some people who know some people. We're going to find these jackasses and put the squeeze on them to get some answers! Topics are going to be generated from a somewhat granular approach and you're all welcome to participate and contribute to the questions AND the answers! A Facebook page is up and I strongly encourage you talk about what you're drinking and why in addition to posting any spiritual questions you may have. Truth is, I work in the spirits industry in liquor sales. While I'm no expert, I know a sommelier or two, quite a few hopheads and brewers and all sorts of liquor aficianodos who live for this kinda shit. We're going to get some fucking answers and find out about a lot of new shit in the process!

You may be thinking I'm trying to reinvent the wheel. No goddamnit, I'm not. While information is the key here, I'm hoping we might just form a community of people passionate about spirits who will enjoy each other's input over the wire, and maybe even find the cause leading to the raising of a few glasses together in your local communities. This project will initially revolve around Austin, but hopefully will push out till it reaches the further reaches of the Congo.

Lets see what happens!

Sincerely,

Doug Jarosh
